The head of the Buenos Aires government, Jorge Macri, expressed his concern for PAMI retirees who have lost 100% of their medication coverage and find themselves in an unfair situation of having to choose between buying food or continuing their treatments.
"We have to do something, because if a retiree has to decide between eating and taking their medicine, the need to eat will always prevail. If they stop taking their medications, they will get sick," affirmed Macri, highlighting the importance of prevention and offering support to those in need.
The head of government pointed out that in the City of Buenos Aires, people without medical coverage can go to care centers where they receive diagnosis and medications for free. In the case of PAMI affiliates, they are provided with a medical prescription but must pay for the medication at the pharmacy.
Jorge Macri, along with Health Minister Fernán Quirós, are working to find a solution to this issue. He noted the operational difficulties of not having the PAMI database at the national level and the need to identify cases that require assistance in the City of Buenos Aires.
